300 Thousand Dollars Awarded To Put Students To Work

Timmins-JamesBayis getting another 119 jobs thanks to the Canada Student Summer Jobs program. MP Charlie Angus says the riding received over 307-thousand dollars this year to help create summer employment.

Each year we are very pleased to work closely with Service Canada to be able to award employment grants to organizations in the riding.”

Angus says students gain valuable work experience. “This program gives organizations the chance to bring in some help that they may not have been able to do without the program. It also gives students the opportunity to work in the community and give back.”

Summer jobs are awarded each year across the entire riding from Englehart toConnaughtto Kashechewan.

We try to ensure the jobs are spread evenly. Obviously there is only so much money so unfortunately tough decisions have to be made. But we always try to be fair.”

Last Year TJB received $277,000 for 98 positions.
