ANGUS AND BISSON THANK LAUGHREN FOR SERVICE TO CITY

Charlie Angus said he was very surprised to learn that Timmins Mayor Tom Laughren will not be seeking a third term.
Angus says Laughren is a class-act who always put the interests of the city and region first. “We worked very closely with Tom for many years. He always wanted a partnership between all levels of government and we were successful on many fronts.”
Angus says Laughren was enthusiastic about the potential of the region and he worked extremely hard to further that goal.
“Tom had an open door policy. I could call him at any time and he could call me.
It was very nice having a receptive partner over the last 8 years.”
Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson wishes Laughren all the best in his future endeavours. “As mayor, Tom was very easy to approach. His dedication to the position showed in his commitment to the people he served. There will be big shoes to fill.”
Bisson hopes the relationship that was adopted between the three levels of government can continue.
“Working closely allowed us to offer people a simpler way of doing things. When everyone is on the same page, there is less hurdles or obstacles to overcome. It always came down to putting the city and region first.”
