ANGUS CALLS OUT CLEMENT: Must Explain Muskoka Boondoggle

Canadians deserve to know how $50 million in border infrastructure funding was funneled off to pay for pork barrel projects in the riding of Treasury Board President Tony Clement. Clement has refused to answer questions in the House.

Speaking in the House today, Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus challenged Clement to come clean with the public.

“It’s time for the member to stop hiding behind another Minister and come clean. Please explain how he diverted 50-million for border infrastructure into a private slush fund.”

Angus, the NDP’s Ethics and Accountability Critic, says the Conservatives are playing the same old partisan games that led to the Liberal sponsorship scandal.

“This member has abused the public trust and must come clean. If he can’t explain the $50-million spending spree, then he has no business being in charge of the Treasury Board.”
