ANGUS DEMANDS ANSWERS ON HIGH-FLYING MINISTER: Oda Demands Upgrade from 5-Star Hotel
April 23rd, 2012 - 8:50pm
Charlie Angus says it appears Bev Oda can`t help herself when it comes to living large off the taxpayer. The Minister of International Development has once again
found herself in hot water over lavish spending while at a convention in London
about helping the poor. Angus says the ‘Champagne Minister’ has a history of abusing the taxpayer`s dime.
“This is the same minister who threw money around carelessly while she was Heritage Minister. She ran up outrageous limousine bills.”
Oda didn`t want to stay at a posh 5-star hotel in London, instead switching to
another posh hotel at a higher cost. But taxpayers are still on the hook for
the innitial reservation costs.
Angus says the government is abusing the trust of taxpayers. “On one hand they say we all have to do with less but on the other hand they are spending like drunken sailors. It`s another example of how conservatives have one level of standard for the rest of us and a different one for themselves.”
Oda`s latest spending spree comes on the heels of the minister cutting her own
ministry`s budget which is meant to help deperately poor countries.
