ANGUS HOSTS SUICIDE PREVENTION FORUM IN TIMISKAMING
December 15th, 2014 - 11:28am
Charlie Angus is hosting a meeting on suicide awareness and prevention in the Timiskaming region on Tuesday. The forum is part of the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s “308 Conversations” initiative to draw attention to suicide issues in Canada. Angus has invited youth workers, health experts, police and mental health advocates for a two-hour meeting on the issue. He says important lessons can be learned.
“I have been to two funerals this year of suicide victims and that is two funerals too many. We are meeting in Kirkland Lake to discuss the best strategies and practices for dealing with potential suicides. I think this will be a good opportunity to bring people in the know together to find ways of working more cohesively for the good of our region.”
The forum will take place from 10 to noon on Tuesday December 16 at the Encore Club in KirklandLake.
