ANGUS TAKES ON ACCOUNTABILITY FOR SHADOW CABINET: "Ottawa is Broken -- It's time We Fixed it"

Charlie Angus has been appointed the Ethics and Accountability spokesman for the NDP’S shadow cabinet. Angus says he's proud to take on the new responsibility.

"During the election we heard over and over that Ottawa is broken. People expect their politicians to meet an acceptable standard of accountability. Jack Layton made a commitment to clean up Ottawa and we will follow through on this commitment."

Angus is being moved over from his role as Culture and Arts Critic.

"The New Democratic Caucus has very strong leaders on numerous portfolios. Jack Layton asked me to move over onto the ethics file. The issues of ethics are fundamental to restoring trust in the Parliamentary system."

In addition to his work on the Ethics file, Angus remains in his position as Digital Affairs and Copyright Critic. Over the last seven years he has served as Agriculture Critic, Arts Critic as well as the NDP representative on the Government Operations Committee.
