June marks the 10th anniversary of Charlie Angus’ election as Member of Parliament for Timmins-JamesBay. In 2004, Angus took over the riding previously held by the retiring Reg Belair.

Angus ran on a promise to work hard and never stop representing the people of this riding. “I was told I didn’t have a chance to win the riding when I first announced my intentions to run. But we worked hard and I continue to work every day to earn the trust of the people of Timmins-James Bay.”

Angus says it was Jack Layton who inspired him to run federally in the first place. “Jack

Believed politics should be done with honour, and to serve the people of our country. I have followed this ever since I first put my name on the ballot.”

Over the last 10 years, Angus has earned many accolades consistently being chosen one of the best MP’s in the country.

“My goal was to stand up for the region. I love working for our people and am as enthusiastic of the work as the first day I was elected.”
