CONSERVATIVE ATTACK ON MAIL WILL HURT EVERYONE
ANGUS SAYS FROZEN MAIL BOXES NO SOLUTION FOR NORTH

The attack on home mail delivery will hurt seniors, communities and the economy. This is the message from Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus who is calling on the Harper government to explain why an institution that has made profit year after year seems so intent on alienating its customers.
“Cutting home delivery will have a huge impact on the way people use this national service. It will discourage people from using the mail which will lead to more fragmented delivery and this will impact businesses and citizens. Instead of leadership from the Conservatives we see ideology and short-sightedness.”
Angus says those who currently have home delivery should talk with northern residents who have to rely on outdoor mailboxes.
“I am dealing with citizens who have to retrieve mail from drenched or frozen mail boxes. I have seniors who have a hard time getting to their boxes. Canadians deserve quality postal service.”
Angus says he will be working with municipalities in the north to push back against the plan.
“Canada Post did not consult municipalities, seniors or the people who are being affected. It’s time to make the executives at Canada Post and the Harper government accountable to Canadians who pay their salaries.”
