Jean-Claude Carriere Receives Queens Medal

Charlie Angus has given the Diamond Jubilee medal to Jean-Claude Carriere, a longtime leader in the francophone community. Angus presented the medal at the annual Brunch des Organismes Francophone in New Liskeard on Sunday January 20.

Carriere has been a leader in regional Francophone cultural organizations for years. Angus praised his work with the regional organization ACFO ( (Association canadienne-française de l'Ontario).

"Jean-Claude has been a tireless worker to improve the vitality of cultural life for the Franco-Ontarian population of Timiskaming. His service to the community has enriched all the people of our area -- Francophone and Anglophone."

Carriere is one of 30 people chosen by Angus to receive the Queens Jubilee Medal.
