MR FUNDRAISER WILL BE GREATLY MISSED: Angus and Bisson Honour Petroski
February 25th, 2013 - 8:36pm
Charlie Angus is deeply saddened by the passing of Gerald (Gerry) Petroski. Angus says Petroski was “Mr. Fundraiser”. He worked selflessly with the Knights of Columbus, O’Gorman High School, Timmins District Hospital, Father Les Costello Food Bank, Child and family Services, Timmins Police Board, Crimestoppers, just to mention a few.
“Gerry was involved in so many good causes. Whenever a group or organization was in need of funds, or just advice, they would often call Gerry.”
Angus says he was honoured to have had the opportunity to recognize Petroski’s contributions to our community.
“It was a real pleasure to pin a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal on his chest a couple of months ago. He was the perfect recipient to receive this award on behalf of the Governor-General.”
MPP Gilles Bisson says Gerry was always thinking of others and how he could help.
“At the medal ceremony, I could tell he wasn’t well at that point but as always, Gerry didn’t let his personal suffering dampen the spirits of others. He will be greatly missed.”
Our sympathies and prayers go out to his wife Helene, sons Rene and Rodney, daughter Sylvie, and the entire Petroski family.
