Nomination Period For Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal Now Open

Charlie Angus officially made the call for nominations for the Queen`s Diamond Jubilee Medal. The medal will be awarded to people in the riding who have gone above and beyond in their communities. Angus says we are looking for the unsung heroes.

“We really want to honor those people that sometimes fly under the radar. The
people who give of themselves without asking for anything in return.”

Angus says a committee has been struck for the Timmins area and one will be named for the Timiskaming area.  The Timmins committee will be responsible for all communities north including Iroquois Falls, Cochrane and the James Bay coast.

We want to ensure all communities in the riding are considered. We have 30 medals to award and the committee’s job will be to uncover the hidden gems from all over the riding.”

Nominations are now being accepted. You can pick up forms at Charlie Angus’ office on Wilson or at the Timmins Museum. They will soon be available on-line at Nominations will also be accepted through the Angus householder, that was mailed to each residence.

“We will accept any form of nomination. If people don’t have an ‘official’ form,
they can write on a piece of paper. Just make sure we have all the information.

All nominations must be dropped off at Charlie Angus office at 60 Wilson, suite 202 in Timmins. The medals will be handed out at a ceremony later in the year.
