CANADA STUDENT SUMMER JOB PROGRAM READY TO ROLL FOR 2012

2012 01 17 - Press Releases

Timmins-JamesBayis getting another 277-thousand dollars for student summer jobs this year. In 2011, almost 100 jobs were created in the riding.

Charlie Angus says the summer jobs program has benefited many area students. “For youth trying to find summer employment, this program is perfect. It gives them valuable job experience, while at the same time, providing much needed support for employers.”

Angus says his office has an excellent relationship with Service Canada. “We support this federal program and we encourage local organizations to consider applying for this project funding.”

Canada Summer Jobs funding supports job creation by employers in all sectors, particularly those in the not-for-profit sector and those providing vital community services.

Angus is encouraging groups and organizations in the riding to submit their requests for summer student job funding. The application process opens on February 1.
