Charlie Angus congratulated Ed Pupich of Schumacher today for his receiving a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal from Hockey Canada. Pupich was honoured for his decades of work with amateur hockey.

Charlie Angus will ride the northlander train tomorrow (fri) on its last scheduled trip. During Question Period today, Angus paid tribute to the men and women working the Northlander.
“For over 100 years, the train has been the backbone of economic development. It opened up our region. It has been our lifeline in times of bush fires and tragedies.”

Access to information is one of the fundamental markers of an accountable government and yet under the Harper Conservatives, Canada has become a “black hole.” As the world marks “Right to Know” week, Canada finds it itself falling from a world leader to a world laggard in ensuring citizens information on the workings of government. According to the Centre for Law and Democracy, Canada has fallen to 51st in the world – behind Angola and Niger on access to information.
