Charlie Angus is encouraging seniors groups and organizations to apply for New Horizons for Seniors funding. The program will award grants up to $25,000 to help with programming to aid seniors. Angus says the Fund has helped many groups in the past.

Today in Question Period, Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus called on the government to resolve the ridiculously high food prices in the far north. Angus says paying 15 dollars for a bag of milk is unacceptable.

Charlie Angus and Timiskaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof are inviting residents to come to a meeting on the future of the ONR Sunday in Englehart.
Angus says the sell-off of the ONTC will have huge repercussions for growth in Northeastern Ontario.

This week in the House of Commons, Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus spoke of the tremendous work being done in the riding by all those involved in the massive forest fires. Angus saw the heroism up close.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper is using public money to support failed Conservative candidates. In the last year, nearly 25% of failed Conservative candidates were given patronage posts. The jobs range from plum postings in the senate to public positions at various government agencies and boards.
The move comes as the Harper Government tells seniors and the unemployed not to look to the federal government for help. New Democrat Ethics Spokesman Charlie Angus says Harper's patronage spree is a sign of contempt for Canadian taxpayers.
